Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel is weeping for her children, and will not be comforted, because they are no more."
Answer for yourself: Where did the writer of the Gospel of Matthew draw his texts as this supposed "fulfillment"?
[Jeremiah 31:15 -"Thus says HaShem: a voice in Rama I hear. It is wailing, weeping bitterness. Rachael is weeping for her children. She refuses to be comforted for her children, for they are no more."

So far, the translation looks pretty good, however, if we read the next two sentences, we find out what this quote really meant.
[Thus says HaShem: Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears, for your work shall be rewarded says HaShem; And they shall come back from the land of the enemy, and there is hope for their future says HaShem, and your children shall return to their own border.]
Answer for yourself: Was the writer of the Gospel of Matthew guilty of taking a prophetic passage completely out of context to forge and create a "false fulfillment" of a prophecy in order to make it look to his Gentile readers that Jesus is the fulfillment of the prophet when in fact he was not? He sure was!
Answer for yourself: Can the Holy Spirit have anything to do with such falsification of the Hebrew Scriptures and such outright lying to the future readers of such religious texts? I sure hope not. It is evident that G-d does not have a amnesia and forgets what He revealed to the prophets let alone cannot remember the contexts of His word spoken before. What we have here is the forgery of the New Testament and the purposeful misquotation to mislead the reader with the intention of directing him and his beliefs to the agenda of the writer which is anything but the teaching of truth and the accurate representation of G-d to the reader.
This is a typical ruse of using a text out of context as "proof". Maybe you need to refresh yourself and re-examine the various ways the Gentile translators mishandled the Jewish Scriptures in giving you such a corrupted text.
As we can see, in no way is this verse a prophecy that the children of Beth-Lechem would be killed. When Yakov Avienu, buried his wife Rachel on the side of the road as he traveled to Beth-Lechem of Ephratah (sound familiar?) we are told that she is there for all generations to pray to G-d on behalf of all of the children of Israel who shall be led into exile. The nations lead the Jews into bondage, the Jews are exiled and often murdered. G-d tells the spirit of Rachael that the Jews shall one day return from "the land of the enemy, and there is hope for their future." G-d also speaks of the return of the Jewish people back to the land of Israel.
This text does not speak of a massacre of an entire town, and in the actual Hebrew text, the children are exiled and will return.
And the irony of it is that Christians use this quote to kill the Jewish spirit and cause the spirit of Rachels worldwide to cry more tears due to the effects of Christian evangelism of the Jews whereby their corrupted texts and evangelism causes more Jewish people to be exiled from the truth of their heritage and the truth of the only Bible given to man...the Jewish Scriptures!
A Christian might reply that this verse was stating that this was speaking of the resurrection of the dead babies. Or maybe some woman was there named Rachael. Or that when Jesus returns, then we can all live in peace in Israel. And of course "the enemy" is Satan. And the Missionary will go on and on, trashing these words of the future to fit what they want. The reality is that the Jews have a long memory, and they remember any great disaster that befalls their people. And if a foreign leader kills a great multitude of Jewish baby boys, they will not forget it. And yet, neither the Romans nor the Jews take note of this. What I find amazing is that of all of Herod's detractors, and there were many and volumes litter history of his atrocities which were many, NOT ONE OF THE MANY HISTORIANS THAT WRITE OF THE ATROCITIES OF HEROD MENTION THIS EVENT IN ALL OF THEIR WRITING DETAILING THE MURDERS AND HORRIFIC ACTS OF HEROD.
Answer for yourself: How are we to account of such a silence in all of history and it's chronicle of the terror of Herod?
It never happened. Scholars see this “story” in the New Testament as the re-playing of Moses’ life as “one greater than Moses” is here in the life of Yeshua in the mind of the writer of the Gospel of Matthew. Such a ploy was to steer both Jews and Gentiles away from Biblical Judaism which was in it's day a world-religion.
No, this verse is not about Jewish babies being sacrificed so that the Christ may live. It is about a Jewish nation that can take anything thrown at it, and still be able to return home one day. This is a promise of G-d. Again a gross misapplication of the Jewish Scriptures. It amazes me that anyone can seriously look to these examples and try to say that the Holy Spirit inspired such a travesty of Biblical translation. More to follow.
